Urgent Care for Kids Launches First Statewide Virtual Pediatric Telemedicine Service
AUSTIN, Texas, March 5, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — On-demand virtual pediatric doctor visits are now available statewide through Virtual Care for Kids®, the first service of its kind in Texas made possible by Urgent Care for Kids. Patients can now opt to connect via video chat with a Texas-based pediatrician. This new service now makes quality pediatric care available to any and all of Texas’ more than 3 millions children ages 0 to 21. According to a Georgetown University Center for Children and Families 2017 study, approximately 835,000 of those children are uninsured.
“Our vision is to ensure every child in America has the highest quality healthcare right at their fingertips and we’re starting with Texas,” president Kevin Pearce said. “We’ve built our model to deliver the best patient experience in telemedicine no matter what device or connection you’re using by putting mobile quality care measures in place.”
Virtual Care for Kids gives patients the same high-quality pediatric care all through a ‘facetime’ conversation minimizing the typical in-clinic wait times and eliminating the drive time altogether. Patients are immediately ushered into a virtual visit room where the pediatric provider within a local Urgent Care for Kids clinic will connect with them via live video from the comfort of their own home.
“Our on-demand Virtual Care for Kids service is for urban, suburban, rural and every parent-caregiver in between who has a sick child at home and is seeking answers some of the most common illnesses, skin irritations, minor injuries and cold and flu symptoms,” Director of Telemedicine Dr. Linda Halbrook said.
“We believe in providing quality pediatric care at an affordable rate to anyone who uses our service, so Virtual Care for Kids is available to anyone in the state of Texas, with and without insurance,” CEO Brian White said. “We accept most insurance plans, including Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and United Healthcare. And we also accept most Medicaid plans. As patients log in for their visit, they simply upload a photo of their insurance card, and we take care of the rest.”
Virtual Care for Kids will be launching a statewide communications campaign starting with the Austin, Texas market spring 2019.
